Hey guys, i am after some advice on upgrading my PC whilst staying in my budget.

So i built my PC around 4 years ago with the specs below.

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P
RAM: 16GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR3 1600MHZ
CPU: AMD FX 6300 Black Edition, Vishera, Six Core, AM3+, Clock 3.5GHz, Turbo 4.1GHz, 8MB L3

Last year i purchased a Gigabyte 1060 6GB G1 Gaming edition GPU and as you can probably guess there is huge bottleneck issues between the CPU and GPU. I can barely get 40 frames on any game i play.

I would like to get a new Mobo,CPU and some GDDR5 RAM and obviously a new cooler for the new CPU.

Could you guys recommend and upgrades for around £400-£450

Thanks,
Ben

From a processor point of view, that is about as good as it gets for gaming.

Yes, it is a 4 thread processor.
But, how many threads of the 6 you have are actually helping?
experiment with removing one or more cores/threads. You can do this in the windows msconfig boot advanced options option.
You will need to reboot for the change to take effect. Set the number of threads to less than you have.
This will tell you how sensitive your games are...
Ryzen 1600 would pair nicely with your current GPU. No need for cooler, as stock one is quite good.

This will tell you how sensitive your games are to the benefits of many threads.
If you see little difference, your game does not need all the threads you have.
Likely, single thread performance is more important.
