I apologies in advance if this is the wrong section, completely new here, but I have retrieved a lot of answers from here via google before, so this seemed like the best place to find people who know what they are talking about.

Anyway, I'm upgrading my PC and need some help, mainly with my PSU. But any extra tips / advice that you could give would be great. (especially if I could shave a few quid off the price!)

My current, average, can just about run starcraft 2 on medium, specs.

Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Athlon(tm) IIx2 250 Processor ~3.0GHz
4GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
2x500GB hard drives
1920x1080 Monitor
ASUS-M4A78LTM Motherboard www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A78LTM/#CPUS
(Atleast that's what Crucial Scan told me it was!
550 Watt PSU (picture attached for specifics, the brand name is Colors IT)
TxWv1.jpg

Now, I'm doing a relatively big upgrade (although nothing uber top end) to my CPU, GPU and ram. Links below.
GPU: www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-gtx-660-oc-28nm-pcie-30-(x16)-6008mhz-gddr5-gpu-1006mhz-boost-1072mhz-cores-960-dport-dl-dvi
CPU: www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-HDZ965FBGMBOX-Phenom-II-965/dp/B002SRQ214/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357698624&sr=8-1
And the RAM will just be some cheap 2x4GB that I'll pick up. (Bringing it to a total of 12GB)

The question at hand is. If I upgrade my GPU/CPU to the ones I've linked, would my PSU be able to supply the power needed? I tried looking it up, but although I know a bit about PC's, I just got lost in all the acronyms and jargon. :(
If it's not up to the task, then could someone find a good one that is compatible?

Sideline question: Is there something better I could buy for the same or less in terms of price?

For a benchmark of sorts, I'd be looking to play current titles like Mass Effect 3 / Crysis 2 on highest settings. +/- some graphic settings here and there.

As for my budget. +/- A few £10 for the sake of better hardware is possible.

Thankyou in advance for any replies, sorry for so many questions at once.
I look forward to your help!

Kind regards,
zulixia.

I don't trust the brand. It should be more than adequate, but I recommend upgrading to a PSU such as a CX500 from Corsair, to make sure its fine. 30amps on the 12V rail SHOULD be fine, but whether its actually outputting that or its just lying, is another factor.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMPSU-500CXV2UK-Builder-Series-CX500V2/dp/B005851O16/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1357741982&sr=1-1

This should be more than adequate.

If you can afford it, get
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-gtx-660-twin-frozr-iii-oc-28nm-pcie-30-(x16)-6008mhz-gddr5-gpu-1033mhz-boost-1098mhz-cores-9

its a pretty good deal for the UK.

PC has been all built. Turns out I bought the parts 2 weeks early, everything I bought went down in price and could have saved me about £100. :(
Oh well, I'm happy with my new PC now that I can actually run more than counter strike source.
