Hello nerds! (im sorry 😛)

I was looking at upgrading my cpu and possibly my motherboard, as i got a new gpu not too long ago. Are there any that you could recommend? My price range is about $500-$700. Also I live in Australia if that makes a difference.

Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.10GHz
RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 639MHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Z68X-UD3H-B3
Graphics: 2047MB GeForce GTX 770 (Gigabyte)
tower is a thermaltake full tower thingy (hah sorry not sure what its called 😛)

Y defo - t bigger t better!! T larger SSDs are usually a bit quicker too, and like any HD it will run best wit some free space. Also don't forget that once u hav t SSD installed u can then install yo current HD as a storage drive - no need t fill up t SSD wit things that don't need t speed like photos, vids, music
in all honesty your cpu is still more than capable. I have a 280x(770 equivalent) running with an i5 750(older than yours) and see no problems at all. If you're looking for a faster experience either OC some more with better cooling or look into a SSD if you don't have one yet.

Your i5 is still a lot stronger than the FX8350. It should be fine, but if you really want to upgrade, you could get a 2500k or 3570k and a Cooler Master 212 Evo and overclock since you already have a Z68 motherboard.

What psu do you have?

A ssd would be a great upgrade like somebody above me said.

Im not really certain what an SSD is, is it the main one which holds windows and your user files and that? if so mine is this > 932GB Seagate ST31000524AS (SATA)..I dont think its an SDD though, just like an internal hard drive?

SSD stands for solid state drive. it serves the same purpose as a hard drive, but in a different way. Imagine it as a massive flash drive. It is insanely faster than a standard hard drive, so boot up times and response times for applications are much faster. The best way to use them is with a HDD, using the SSD for your OS, games and programs that need to be quick and then the HDD for movies, photos, videos and other mass storage stuff.

It's not - u hav a regular hard drive. SSD, OR SOLID STATE DRIVE, would replace that as yo system drive (holding Win, apps, etc, as u said) but will be anything up to 20 times as fast - this is t upgrade u should go for. T Samsung 840 EVO will come wit data migration software so provided u hav less than ( realistically) 200Gb of u HD used, u can switch t t SSD without reinstalling Windows etc. u will need a data migration kit (basically a cable) or u can just use an external drive caddy if u have one

Loading the operating system on a 120GB SSD would improve the general speed of everything. You can still keep the 1TB mechanical hard drive as a secondary drive for storing thing. Don't get anything smaller than 120 GB. It all comes down to waiting for a good sale.
