i have recently bought a pc and am considering upgrading it due to the fact that i cant get 40-60 fps on most of the recent games at higher than low settings.

my specs are

CPU:
AMD Athlon X4 860K
RAM:
8GB DDR3 1600mhz (1x8GB)

Graphics card:
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960 2GB
Motherboard:
Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2

PSU:
450W Corsair VS

if i was to upgrade what should i look at upgrading. I think it probably would be the graphics card to a 4gb model and aslo maybe the processor to a 8 core amd or a quad core intel.

would i be correct in saying this if so what models should i look at buying with a budget of around about 300

thanks

Solution
yes but the VS is a really low quality PSU that noone in their right minds do OCs with or anything else for that matter
that's a good PSU for my grandma to check her mails every other week and turn on her computer for 20mins
your GPU is fine by now

first upgrade: PSU. The Corsair VS series is utter garbage.
contact the PSU Tier List to pick a better PSU, I suggest Tier2

next I'd upgrade the CPU, any modern i5 will show significant performance increase. for example a i5-6400+a B150 board.
or you wait for the AMD Zen release and see how they do.

4690K = $220
1150 motherboard = $60
Aftermarket cooler = $20
-------------------------------
Total $300 for a decent system.

A 450watt PSU will handle a 4690K even with an overclock fine. The 960 isn't really a power hog.
