Hey, I've been thinking about upgrading my PC as it is getting a bit old now and just want some opinions on what to upgrade. Here are my current specs:

CPU: i7 6700k @4.7Ghz 1.355V
Cooler: H100i v2
GPU: Gigabyte 980 ti Xtreme @ 1530Mhz Core 3800Mhz Memory +5mv
Mobo: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming
Storage: Samsung 256GB 950 EVO
WD Caviar Blue 1TB
RAM: 16GB HypeX Fury @ 2133Mhz
PSU: Enough
Fans: Stock Phanteks ones and some Corsair SP120s

Thanks for the help, btw I play at 1440p on a 144hz G-SYNC monitor if that's any help :)

Your current setup is not too bad at all...

The biggest immediate impact update you can do without doing a full overhall is a move to the 1080ti...The 1080ti will make a big difference straight away.

The next route is moving platform to either Ryzen or Intel (Intel Z370 or Z390) and there you have a couple of optins from the 2700X to the 8700K though if you can wait a month, the new 9th Gen Intel CPU's are launching in October in the 9600K, 9800K and the 8 core 16 thread 9900K monster...

I would wait to see how the new 9th Gen Intel CPU's are like in terms of performance and then make a decision as your setup currently is still more than good. I think the new Intel's, especially the 9900K will be the top of the pyramid but might...

Thanks for the comment, I just don’t know if my CPU cooler will be able to keep up with the higher TDPs. Currently I have a phanteks enthoo evolv atx (non-glass) and let’s just say it’s not cold. Playing BF1 CPU temps reaching 85°C...

I figure the 85° is due to the restricted exhaust, restricted intake and a nice toasty GPU alongside a healthy +0.7Ghz on the CPU... Do you think getting better fans would improve this? Any suggestions are welcome :)

If I touch the coolant pipes I can feel that one is hot and the other is significantly cooler. Also I’ve tried removing the top panel and that drops CPU temps by about 10°C! It’s a shame really...

Rad on top with the Corsair SP120 fans set as exhaust (push). I did a small remedy by spacing the front panel away from the case by an extra 4mm which dropped them temps by 5°C. Also, do you think the single rear airflow fan at the back of the case should be set to intake or exhaust?

single fan at back should be exhaust
so the intake fan(s) in front seems to be weak
in that case, chnage your rad fans to be above of your rad and make them intake (push air through rad to your case)
as your current intake is weak, it wont harm your airflow, and rad will be gettin cooler air from outside

Would getting better front fans fix the issue? Like Corsair 2 ML140s or 3 ML120s?
