Upgrading my R9 280X

I was wondering that what is the best card to get now or should i even buy a new card atm?
970/980/r9 390x?
980ti is maybe too expensive for me.

i just got 144hz 1080p benq display.

specs:
XFX R9 280X BE
I5 4690k 4,4ghz
asus z97 mobo
2x4gb 1600mhz
corsair 600w

If you can wait till spring Nvidia and AMD are both releasing a new line of cards so you will be able to get way more performance and features for your money.. If not then be prepared to pay for a 980 or 390

A 280x is a pretty good GPU, so that is why I was asking. Maybe the OP wants more FPS for FPS type games with his new 144 Hz panel?? If I had the $ I would opt for the GTX 980/R9 390x (depending on which vendor I preferred).

I guess so with that card it may be worth wile to hold out and see what the next gen offers [pasical and what ever amd has planed ]

900's could be nice but how close are we to next gen release ?? then decide [but that's just me ]
