Hey, i have a computer with 4 gb ram at 1033mhz . I'm thinking about adding more ram. I use my pc for gaming and coding with visual studio (2010+). If i should buy, should i get another 4gb ram or maybe i can add 8gb to make 12? My cpu is intel G620 and gtx 550ti.
Thanks in advance.

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.
Although, I think the problem has lessened with the newer Intel chipsets. Still,
it is safer to get what you need in one kit.

I suggest you buy a supported kit of 2 x 4gb. That is assuming your os can support >4gb(windows 7 32 bit does not)
Intel chips are not particularly sensitive to ram speeds. 1600 is probably no more expensive though.

Hey thanks guys i appreciate the help. i might not buy new ram this time because i checked my my motherboard can only have up to 1333 mhz ram speed. Maybe I"ll talk with the place i bought my pc and maybe they have the same ram as i bought.
