I am planning on upgrading my rig and I was wondering what I would require to play games like Witcher 3 at 60FPS, 1080p and high -ultra settings. I was thinking on upgrading my GPU to a GTX 980 and installing an SSD(unsure of which one).

My rig:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE H77-DS3H

RAM: 8GB

OS: Windows 7:64bit

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 650

Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz

I'm kind of a complete novice at these things and was looking for some advice. Budget is flexible but I wish to spend lesser than what it would take to just build a new PC from scratch.

Solution
If you want ultra and 60fps minimum I would opt for the 980. Personally I'm going to drop a 980Ti in my rig for 1080p gaming at the end of the summer, its overkill today but I like maxing games and want to do so for a year or two more before my next gpu.

At ultra games are already using 3gb plus vram at 1080p and the 970 has the 3.5gb VRAM issue so doesn't leave much room for future games if you want things maxed out
