my current system i am using has a 250gb m.2 samsung 960 evo as my boot drive which has about 102gb/232 gb used. it also uses 2x 2tb seagate hdd's

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2RR55Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

im looking to upgrade on a budget.

i was thinking about replacing the m.2 960 evo 250gb with a m.2 980 1tb.

i was thinking about replacing the 2 seagate hdd's with this brand, but i dont know much about them.

https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Powe...mzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc

is silicone power a decent budget upgrade? one hdd i use for games, one i use for photos and videos. i figure both would get huge benefits going from hdd to ssd.

Solution
You can't go wrong with the Samsung 980 1TB.
I've heard of Silicone Power but haven't used them. As a general rule, if the seller (in this case, Silicone Power themselves) can't be bothered to put a product up for sale with the correct information (drive is listed as a mechanicla drive in the product info), then I don't buy it. Spend a bit more and go for a Western Digital, Crucial, Intel, Kingston, Seagate, or Corsair.

You would definitely lower your game loading times and may even smooth out some micro-stuttering that can happen when HDDs load assets a bit too slow.

i didnt even catch that drive listing. better eyes than i do.

take this one

i went with 2 of the teamgroup ex2's you suggested. supposed to be here friday. will replace the hard drives at that point.

i also got the 980 pro 1tb with heatsink off ebay brand new for $120

i'm thinking the 980 pro 1tb should smoke the 960 evo 250gb.

the 2 teamgroup ssd's should smoke the seagate hard drives i would think.

980 Pro?

What motherboard do you have?

And ebay?
Are you 100% sure this comes with the factory Samsung warranty?

980 pro 1tb with heat sink. factory sealed. user has a positive record.

my motherboard is the msi gaming plus b550.
I don't know about your market, but in the US, $120 is only about $20-25 less than from a known valid retailer like Newegg or Amazon.
ebay pos records don't mean a lot.

Good drive, though. I have one.
Temper your expectations of 'smoking' the 960. Normal PC use, you won't see a lot of difference except for the capacity.

well i think normally you're probably right. with it being factory sealed i took a chance. i guess i will find out.

i mean i know the 960 evo is still a solid drive but in the future i plan on using the new m.2 and the 2 2.5 ssd's for more intensive things, so the space and the speeds should come in handy. i plan on starting to cut and doing video editing for all my surfing videos.

so got the two teamforce ex2 2tb ssd's today to replace the two seagate barracuda compute 2tb hdd's. still waiting on the new 980 pro 1tb to come in to replace my 960 evo 250gb.
so far it seems like my computer is a little cooler and quieter now without i guess the hdd's platter rotating i guess. games seems to be launching quite a bit quicker.

tested so far:
red dead 2 launched 16 seconds faster.
cyberpunk launched 12 seconds faster.
batman arkham games (origin, city, knight) launched 32 seconds, 24 seconds, and 16 seconds faster.
return to castle wolfenstein launched 51 seconds faster.
wolfenstein old blood launched 17 seconds faster.
wolfenstein new order launched 15 seconds faster.

pretty happy so far.

is it worth it to try and sell the 2 seagate 2tb drives? what should i do with them?
