Hi all,

I have a GTX 970 4gb, but it seems to be bottlenecked by the rest of my system which is a Core 2 Duo e6750, 4gb ram ddr3 and gigabyte motherboard. Needless to say that section of the system is very outdated. I would like this to be a budget build so I was thinking amd but hearing about all the system crashes it doesnt sound very worthwhile (had to recently return an rx460 but not sure if its because of my old MOBO). My PSU is an old 480W which i will also have to replace.

Would an i3 system be more suitable to be more reliable? I am a 'average' pc user, I browse, sometimes play Dota 2 and switch between chrome and Dota 2 while listening to music. My case is a Coolermaster centurion 7 which i also will replace, preferably something with tempered glass. I am also in the UK so please bear that in mind, I would be using eBay for finding parts

What is your budget? These days, to be honest, a ryzen 3 build should be the minimum you go with, so you can get an actual upgrade path.

Thanks. 0-250 pounds for all the parts i need. I did read about the ryzen 3 1200 which seemed to have very good reviews on amazon. I was thinking to use my existing 4gb kingston DDR3 ram although its not rated at 1600mhz (though i suppose that doesnt matter too muchf or what i will be using it for)

Thanks! that's helpful. I was looking at EVGA power supplies too which seemed a bit cheaper but those Corsairs seem highly rated too.
