Upgrading my System. Will it fit?

Nov 16, 2012
Hey guys! I'm new to this forum and I'm really hoping for an efficient answer, well since, black friday is coming up and so is cyber monday!

OK so I have this well, pretty outdated system, and i'd like to upgrade the rig, but I can't do much without upgrading my mobo, so here it goes.

What I currently have :

MOBO : ASUS M3A76-CM (pretty old and outdated)

RAM : 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 (needs to be changed if I upgrade the mobo =\)

CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 965 (quad core 3.4 stock not overclocked)

HDD : I HAD 2 hard drives which added to 1 TB with RAID, but one went out so i only have one working one.

What I'd like to change in this build

MOBO : I'd like to upgrade to the ASUS M5A99X EVO (My question is IF it would support the video card/CPU)

RAM : 16GB (4GBx4) Kingston HyperX DDR3 1866

HDD : New 1 TB hard drive for storage and about 128 GB SSD

Video card and CPU I'm hoping to keep the same so my question is, Will these parts work on the new motherboard?
The video card will work on pretty much any mobo.

CPU will work fine.

Any SATA drive will work.

RAM is main question. The DDR2 won't work with new mobo. For RAM I'd be suggesting only 8GB, and just 1600MT/s. Any more and you hit diminishing returns. I'd suggest getting RAM that's only 1.5V; while AMD chips are fine with 1.65V it costs much the same and if you change platforms later the RAM will still work.
