Upgrading my Thinkpad X220 to i7-2760qm

Hi I want to upgrade my x220 from i5-2520m to i7-2760qm and my Chipset is Intel QM67, I have checked cpu-world, there it says that

2520m {
Package: 988-pin micro-FCPGA10 (rPGA988B)
Socket: Socket G2 / rPGA988B
}

2760qm {
Package: 988-pin micro-PGA (rPGA988B)
Socket: Socket G2 / rPGA988B
}

From my understanding packaging is the way pins are placed and connected to actual CPU die, if chipset, socket are same, shall I take leap of faith?
