Upgrading Nvidia GeForce gts 250

Hello everyone and thanks for reading my first post I plan to buy a new graphics card for my stone age machine as a first step in building a gaming pc ... slowly. My budget is about 250-300 dollars but can (case specific) go up to 350.

As for the visuals I'm using an LG Electronics 23LG3000 plasma-ish wide-screen tv at 1360x768 resolution. Again , I have no idea whether I should switch to an intel processor for better gaming and higher fps. I would like to call my next rig "steam pc" , must be able to run AC3 , CoD Blops 2 , Borderlands 2 and The Witcher 2 at ultra settings , so that's the kind of GPU I have in mind.
Whether it will be an ATI / PhysX , SLI/Crossfire , I have no idea. Checked the forums , read the reviews but with all that massive pile of information I'm at a loss.

I would suggest you save your money up for a whole new rig, because if you upgrade your GPU now it will be bottlenecked buy your CPU and system ram. Also if your PSU is not stronge enough it might blow and you mine not have a system for some time till you can buy a new one.

You'll need a gtx 650ti if you want to run those games maxed out at that resolution + you need a processor upgrade to at least an i5 .. p.s.u upgrade to 500watts (80+ certified) and i dont think ii need to tell you how slow your ram is right now. thats pretty much it. sell your mobo processor and ram. just get the gtx 650ti first but i doubt you'll see a massive difference over that gts250 so if you can try to go for the gtx 660ti until you can afford to change your mobo, processor and ram. but one teensy weensy problem :/ i dont think your psu will be able to handle the gtx 660ti so you're better off going for the gtx 650ti which will play all your games at high settings on that resolution. oh and GIMME THAT GTS250 i cant afford ***

If I was in your shoes I would say pick up a new monitor 1080p monitor for $120-150 then buy a AMD 7850 2Gig card for $150-170 (basically using up your $300 buget). Then upgrade the cpu/MB/memory in the futre.

Well that is an option is you have 300-350 you can build out a simple i3/fx-6300 Pc should be able to get MB/CPU and 8 gigs of memory and would probably give you a boost in performance at the resolution your currently playing then in the future when you have a little more money could upgrade your card.
