Upgrading old motherboard to another old motherboard

EDIT: I ADDED A LOT MORE DETAIL TO THIS QUESTION ABOUT 3-4 COMMENTS UNDER THIS.

So I currently have a h61m-p22 (b3) motherboard.... god only knows what that means. It's a 1155 chipset from what i gather.

I have a problem with it being quite simply - shit. On the other side, i plan on getting a ryzen setup probably next year, so i'm thinking of getting something moderately less shit than what i already have, that i could get for like 20-30$ to get me through this year.

Anybody have any idea if the 1155 boards have like a general term they are called like the b350 now, or the x97 from the older times or something? How to google one?

The H61 is the chipset your motherboard is using so any H61 motherboard should work fine with your current processor.

However, if you plan on building a Ryzen PC then you will need the processor and a corresponding motherboard like a B350 Motherboard. You cannot use a B350 motherboard with your current chip.

@Corwin65 Hopefully you or anyone else is still following this post, work had me stomped this last week. Anyway, my main problems with this mobo are as follows

- my GPU completely blocks off SATA ports
- my GPU also completely blocks off any PCI ports where i could perhaps add some SATA port extensions
- it supports quite low RAM speeds, so a boost in that area would probably be nice since my ram is a bit faster than supported
- i have no usb 3.0 slots, so that would be a good addition but not necessary
- my sound and mic jacks are completely broken. the ones i connect to the front of the case are broken completely , and the ones on the back panel work but just barely and if you move them around for about 30mins untill i find a sweet spot.

I'm running a i7 2600k on it at the moment. I basicly need just a bit better MOBO that is not as bad as this one but nothing special either. I mentioned a b350 in my original question, and from what i get, a b350 now is alright, and an x370 is great for ryzen. Well, i would get probably like a b350 of the year 2012, nothing flashy, just something that does the job. Also, a capability to overclock would be good, even though i do not plan to overclock this cpu because it was already worn out a lot over the years, but having it as a possibility in case i need it is nice.
