I have a 2TB hard drive with win7 installed on it at the moment, but I just got a 256gb SSD and i'd like to put win10 on it and use it as my boot drive. I have multiple questions about it, namely:

  • Will I need win10 installed on my HDD as well?
  • Can I install win10 on the SSD without the use of a disk or flash drive?
  • Can I install win10 on the SSD using the media creation tool?
  • Will the data on my HDD be deleted?

Hi Canadiancookie :)

Your best method is to clean install W10 from the Media Creation Tool ISO and from a USB.
Leave the HDD out of the equation for now until your OS is installed and working on your SSD. You can then add your HDD and configure disk priority in Bios. You would also be able to dual boot the system if you wished.
NO data would be lost on the HDD.
