Hey guys,
So i'm looking to upgrade a few things in my current rig and make the switch to Intel from AMD. Currently i'm running a AMD 955BE 3.2Ghz Rev. C2 on an ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard, 4x4GB G. Skill 1600Mhz? Ripjaws memory, 750GB WD Black hard drive, 2TB WD Green HD, and a great big cooler master case... Now I also have two 2gb reference Sapphire Radeon HD 6950s unlocked to 6970s that were installed until yesterday when i came across a trade and picked up a MSI 2gb GTX 680 Twin Frozr III which i then installed just for fun.. I was told that the crossfire 6950s were comparable to the GTX 680 in performace, so i decided to try nvidia and lose the crossfire troubles...
WHat i'm looking to accomplish is gaming, i want to play BF3 on max without any lag or slowdowns, also want to try Crysis 2, the new Mechwarrior Online game, Metro 2033, Borderlands 2, etc.... All the good graphics intensive games..
So now my plan, because from what ive read the CPU, motherboard, likely the ram, and more likely the main hard drive are slowing me down... I'm looking at trading the two 6950s for a brand new in box Intel 3770k processor (which is in the works locally), or selling them for around $200 a piece if possible and buying a 3770k or even a 3570k and save some cash.. Also the motherboard would need to be swapped and I found a USED MSI Z77A GD65 for $120-$140 but with receipt and warranty locally (good idea or bad? can i get something better brand new online for around same price or?)..
Basically what i'm trying to do for the moment is to sell my current motherboard and processor for whatever i can get (been offered $130 so far), sell or trade the 6950s or the gtx 680 for a new i5 or i7 processor and motherboard without spending much or any extra money.. and then a little bit down the road get a new SSD hard drive, and new memory if its needed... I live in Canada so prices are a bit different so keep that in mind. Let me know what ya guys think if you arent too bored yet reading my novel.
