Hi, this is my current spec:
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-990XA-UD3
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor, 3500 Mhz
RAM: 8 GB of DDR3 RAM though don't recall the manufacturer or the model
GPU: AMD R9 280x 3GB GDDR5
SSD: Samsung EVO850 128GB.
PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 750w

I'm looking to upgrade CPU/Motherboard/RAM.

I think to allocate around 400-500$ for this upgrade, what would be your suggestions? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.
I am looking for a smooth 1080p gaming experience.

Has ryzen zen+ changed anything regarding selection?

what psu is it? For gaming only, this combo is pretty good:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i5-8500 3GHz 6-Core Processor ($186.37 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z370P D3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($99.89 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($172.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $459.25
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I want to get 8600k, but hard to fit into budget. Yes, you may get 8gb ram instead, but 16 gb is better for new builds. Z370 allow some upgrade path compared to those H/B chipset and not much...
