Upgrading PC and requiring some help please :D

Jul 17, 2011
Hi im currently in the process of upgrading my PC on account of i broke my motherboard accidentally while trying to clean the case and fans.... gg me.
I'm having trouble with choosing a new motherboard my friend suggested that i use
ASRock Z68 PRO3-M LGA 1155 Intel Z68 4x DDR3 2133 (OC)
But I was hoping to have the possibility of using SLi in the future. This is the rig that I am currently thinking of

ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Z68 4xDDR3 3*PCIex16 GBL RAID DVI HDMI DS $198
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3R-B3 1155 2PCIEX16 SATA2/3 USB2/3 $179
If there is another one for similar prices let me know cause i know crap all about motherboards.

G Skill 8G(2x4G)DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 CL8(F3-12800CL8D-8GB $95

Thermaltake Litepower 700W ATX PSU - (Not the greatest but I already have it)

Graphics card:
Gigabyte GF GTX460 1G OC DDR5 2xDualLinkDVI miniHDMI -(ALready have it)

Intel Core i5 2500K Processor LGA1155 3.3GHz CPU -(Was recommended to me by a friend) $215

Also was thinking of a new cooling fan or liquid cooling for the CPU but not sure yet... i dont want to spend that much money on a cpu cooler.

btw these are all in AUS dollars as im from australia. the site i was using is

If I could get some guidance from the community here on what to get for this gaming PC that would be fantastic . Thanks.
How do you know you broke the motherboard? What model is it? I might want it (Hmm...shipping from Australia? I dunno). What are you doing with your CPU?

Liquid cooling isn't useful for most people--only hobbyist overclockers who REALLY get into it.

You should start by filling this out because it asks most of the questions we'll need answered anyways: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advice

The i5-2500K is an awesome processor. But just so you know, you'll be able to handle SLI'd GTX 460 1GB's with an i3-2100.

If you're tight on money, I should tell you that 8GB of RAM doesn't have a gaming benefit over 4GB.

How hardcore of an overclocker are you? If you end up getting the i3-2100, you can spend a lot less on a cheaper SLI capable motherboard. Does SSD caching or Quicksync appeal to you?
I think this motherboard looks good, especially with an i3-2100: $141 Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 http://umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=106&bid=2&sid=76833

It looks like it might not be in stock right now though. In that case, any motherboard with two 8x PCI-e slots will do. You'll want P67 or Z68 if you go with the i5-2500K. An H67 board will do if you go with the i3. I'd stick to Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock...or MSI for the motherboard.
