Hello my friends, how is it going ?

Just finished the beta for Battlefield 2042, and my pc isnt up to date anymore, so i need your help........
My current system is :

Z370 gaming M5 msi motherboard
165Hz LG monitor
Intel Core i5 8600K
VENGEANCE® LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X, 8GB
2 ssd's samsung evo
wd red 2tb harddik
Corsair rm1000 power supply
NZXT Kraken X62 watercooling
Windows 10

I dont want to spend a ton of money, because i dont have that :)
So my question to you guys is what do i need to upgrade, like cpu and gpu i quess, but to what kind, and is it compatible with the current motherboard...etc.
Im like selling the current cpu and gpu to save some money.

I just want to play like without stuttering and in 1440p, preferably at high fps, monitor is 165.

Thank you guys.

Have a great night.

ps. my budget is like 1000 euro

i9-9900k would be the best you could do CPU wise. I7-8700k would be a close second, and oddly the i7-9700k would be around third (8 threads)

Long as you can get about 400 from the GTX1080, you should be able to pick up something. RTX3070 maybe. (Keep in mind the RTX3060 has the same core count as the 1080Ti)

It is not good to use a Beta of a game as a basis of what is needed for the final and possibly more optimised version.

However what happens when you drop the resolution to 1080p. If your FPS and performance stays similar then it’s very likely you are cpu limited. If you see a noticeable gain in FPS then it’s more likely you are gpu limited.

I think my cpu is limited yes, but i also think my gpu isnt strong enough for high fps at 1440p.
So what do i need to buy, and is the rest ok ?

So an RTX3070 will be enough ? with the i9 9900k, ok, hmmm. will this work in my current setup ? (mobo....memory}

The gpu is on the low side for high FPS 1440p in AAA games but it will depend a lot on appetite to compromise on settings.

I think the key is how much would a 8700k/9700k/9900k upgrade cost you? GPU prices are still insane and I’d avoid buying a gpu now unless absolutely necessary or you don’t care that it might be worth half its price in 6 months.

A i9 9900k is like 370 euro's here, so

Ok, If i decide to upgrade my cpu first, not a bad thing, and not that expensive as a gpu nowadays, is the i9 9900K compatible with my motherboard, z370 gaming m5 ?

I was basing that on your budget with the added sale price of your 1080. You might be able to locate a faster card if you are willing to camp out at stores. Maybe a 3070ti or 3080, which is the max you should consider for gaming.

Plenty of price scalped cards out there, but you will have determine what you are willing to spend.
