[SOLVED] Upgrading pc, good or not

So right now I have pc which is hella annoying. Crashes often, is more than 4 years old, and the c drive is full of useless stuff and keeps filling itself. So I decided to use pcpartpicker and I wanted to ask if it's a good idea or not. I'm not that good with PC building and it will be the first time actually building one. Only thing I did which had to do with PC building was switching from a GTX 760 to a GTX 1660 Ti after a bunch of trial and error. Anything will help, like ways to get cheaper prices, or if it even would change something for gameplay. Anyways, I'm going from a:
Motherboard: Acer TC-603 G3 DX4885 MS-7829 LGA1150
CPU: I7-4790
GPU: GTX 1660 Ti
RAM: 16GB
PSU (Which I don't even know the true simplified name of): 9PA5009700 FSP 12-PIN ATX 80+ GOLD 500W PSU MODEL FSP500-50AAGA

That is a solid computer, but no reason to upgrade to it for gaming.
Your gpu is not that fast, and changing just the cpu will not improve it by that much.

Clean out the C drive. Get rid of all the 'useless stuff'. Most of the crashes will be due to software/driver conflicts, orphans, dead end junk.

I'd start with CCleaner from piriform.com. It's free. Use the tool to go through and decide whats junk and can go. Delete it. Then use the cleanup tool to get rid of all the junk in temp files/folders, bad links, dead end crap. Then use the registry cleaner to reorganize and streamline the registry (say Yes! to save copy) and get rid of all the orphans and associations in that. Cycle through the tools several times.

Then goto nvidia.com and grab the drivers for your card and save to desktop. Use DDU from guru3d.com (in windows safe mode) to dump the old graphics drivers totally, then reinstall from desktop saved file.

Goto start menu and open CMD with Admin, and type in sfc /scannow to verify and correct any/all windows system drivers.

Should be crash free. Then decide if it's really worth the cost or even necessary to upgrade the pc. A faster/stronger pc will not resolve issues, it'll only resolve perceptions, as in you just can't get the fps you want/desire or do other tasks fast enough to make you happy.

Do what Karadjgne wrote, and perhaps wait for intel Alder Lake.

And if you wana upgrade now I would really avoid the $399 core i9 9900k, specially when you can get a core i5 11400 + decent B560 mobo + 16GB of RAM for around the same money, and thats going to be a motherboard that support PCie v4.

Top end Intel cpu's are race car engines. Fantastic if setup right, miserable if not. That means apart from the initial price hike, you'll also require a motherboard to support the monster cpu, a psu reliable and quality enough to supply good clean power, a cooler able to tame the monster cpu, a case to provide enough airflow to the cooler, enough ram to make it worth it. Not cheap. A 11600k will get you 95ish % of the performance at half the price in requirements. An 11400 will get you 95ish % of a 11600k.

An either of those core i5 will be more than enough to drive the GTX 1660TI.

Clean up what you have and get the proper bios and drivers......cheap

Reload windows and wipe everything.

Go to Microsoft.com, your account. Re-register the new pc, erase the old pc. Microsoft doesn't care what's registered to you under that number, as long as it's only one pc per registration. Copy of windows is free, just grab the exact same as is registered to that number, or the number won't work.
