Hello. I am thinking about upgrading my PC because it's can't handle newer games like BF:BC2 or Arma2. The thing is, I have all the peripherals I need like keyboard, monitor and stuff, so the only stuff I need is the CPU, mobo, GPU and RAM. I am planning to reuse an OCZ ModXStream-PRO 500W PSU.
As for requirements, I mainly use it for gaming, although not so hardcore (I am an oldschool gamer raised on Atari games, I don't care if I have to turn off antialiasing or HDR to get better framerates). Monitor resolution is 1440x900.
My current PC:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6GHz
MSI K9AGM3
DDR2 2GB RAM
GAINWARD Bliss 9600GT 512MB (very loud, friends laugh at me for having a drill instead of a GPU!)
I bought it three years ago and it worked fairly well for these three years.
I am thinking of this for an upgrade (priced taken from newegg.com, I live and will buy the PC in Poland but that's irrelevant, you can link me stuff from newegg):
AMD Phenom II X4 965 135$
AsRock M3A770DE 60$
Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 37$
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6770 1GB 130$
Total: 362$
As you can see, it's a hardcore budget PC, although it costs exactly as much as my previous one and that worked for me.
Now, my question:
What do you think about these CPU and GPU choices. There are so many GPUs with misleading naming, I don't want to accidentally buy an office card struggling with any 3D.
Perhaps I picked something wrong and I can get a better thing for a similar price?
