Hey all,
Just want to check this upgrade plan, triggered by my old screen dying on my today.

Current:
Z87-GD65 Motherboard socket 1150.
Intel i7-4770k 3.5 GHz (oc to 4GHz)
16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 1866MHz
GTX 780
PSU - Corsair HX 750
Obsidian 900D case
SSD -Samsung 840 PRO

Plan:
New 1440p high refresh rate monitor (not chosen exact product yet)
Double up my RAM to the 32GB capacity
New GPU - possibly the new GTX 1070 if appropriate

For reference usage will include gaming (fps), graphic design and video.
Any feedback or suggestions welcomed.

Cheers

Solution
Buy a great 1440P monitor. Usually, this will be 27"
If you want image quality, look for a IPS screen; if you value fps more, then a tn screen.

Yes, a GTX1070 would be appropriate. It is a GTX980ti class card for much less.

On the ram, I think not. Unless you have an app that can take advantage of lots of ram, 16gb is really all you need.
Adding a second kit of ram is a crapshoot and may not work at all.
If you really want 32gb, buy a 32 gb kit.
If you are running windows 7 home premium, you will need to upgrade your os to support >16gb.

Thanks for the answers guys. Yes I'm going to try to get the best screen I can. IPS is the way for me as I don't only game, and the image quality benefits are worth it.

Any screen suggestions are welcomed 😀 I'm wondering whether to go for one of these ultra wide curved ones for the novelty or stick to a tried and tested flat screen with a more standard aspect ratio.

As for the RAM, well I tend to be a heavy user, especially with the Adobe creative cloud apps that I use daily. (Also I'm on win 10). So I'd be in favour of getting more if I can add it easily and it doesn't break the bank. My thought was to just get the exact same kit as I have (dominator platinum ddr3 1866MHz). I think on my current mobo this is all I can do.
