Upgrading PC, which parts should I keep? Any suggestions on what parts to get?

Hi All,

Looking to upgrade my PC parts, as I am not enjoying the performance of my PC currently. Ideally want to keep my case and graphics card, as I only recently acquired them and definitely do not need those new parts. I was wondering, can I keep my power supply and storage if I was looking to upgrade to a i5 8600k cpu/build? What parts would you recommend?

Part List:
i5 4670k @ 3.40ghz with Stock Cooler
MSI b85m-g43
Hyperx Ram 16gb @ 1600mhz
MSI Gtx 1070
Some OP Phanteks Case
Corsair CX600M
120GB Samsung 850EVO SSD
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD

Let me know,
Thanks

This is a good setup.

Not sure currently about if I am going to OC or not, I would only do so down the line once I had upgraded my psu, but im glad to know that I do not need to upgrade it right away. Was thinking about getting the cryorig h7 cooler with the i5 8600k, you reckon the temps would be okay? Thanks

What kinds of games do you play?
A i5-4670K is normally entirely adequate.
Unfortunately with a B85 based motherboard, you can not get more performance by overclocking.
You could buy a Z170 based motherboard and a decent cooler. Probably for $100.

Today, i5-8600-K with an overclock is about as good as you can do for a gaming processor.
Most any Z370 based motherboard will do, and most any speed DDR4 ram will do.

The K series do not come with a cooler so you need to provide one.

Cryorig H7 is an excellent cooler for the price and is short enough at 145mm.
If you have 160mm available in your case, you can go stronger with a noctua nh-d15s which will let you get to the max overclock your particular chip will allow. likely to the 5.0 range.
