Question Upgrading PC's is this ''value''?

Hi, i currently own a ''decent'' gaming setup. and was looking to upgrade my system because somehow i can play every game fine but Battlefield 2042 cant even run properly on 720p. with lowest settings.

EDIT : forgot to add PSU
my current pc specs are :

Cpu : Ryzen 7 2700X not OC'd
Gpu : Radeon Rx 580Nitro+ 8GB
Ram: 2x 8GB Hyper Fury X 3200Mhz
MOBO : ASROCK B450M
PSU : Bequit 11 Pure Power 600Watt

so my plan is to upgrade my CPU and MOBO and most likely the GPU but i dont know wich one would fit the best.
my cpu plan is to get the Ryzen 7 5700X and for the motherboard a B550. now my problem is wich GPU would fit with the new CPU. and is it even worth upgrading at all to what i listed,

keep the b450 !!
if your going to mainly play games slap a 5600x in there spend the rest on a decent GPU the intel ARC770 is a good buy will blow the 580 out the window and with the 16gb Vram its a win win.

Ram should be fine i usually go with 32gb but 16gb is fine !!

ive currently got the ARC770 paired with a 5600x and its a great little combo in another build !!

just check youre PSU 750w at the min just to be safe and update your bios before upgrading to the 5000 series cpu's !!
 
hey all. thanks for the replies. i did miss giving some info indeed about the budget and my PSU. my PSU is

Bequit 11 Pure Power 600Watt
and for my budget. its roughly around 400-600 euro's
also i forgot to add my monitor is 1920x1080 only reason i went to 720P on Bf2042 was to see if that would get rid of the lag but did not :/

so after comparing for some time. i decided to go for the Ryzen 7 5700X instead of the 5600X money wise its like 20 euro difference. but it seems like the 5700x has better performance.
also i read that the X means its meant for overclocking. but i dont trust myself with that. so ill just keep it on ''stock settings''

also a bit off topic. the reason i came here is because i asked EA for help. i thought i met the specs in some way. but not being able to play on low with 720P seems weird. i gave them a whole list of what i did and tried. the number 1 was ''reinstalling the game'' first message the support send me back is. ''have you tried reinstalling the game first?'' like come on....
 
So just for confirmation, could you alter the graphics settings and see whether the CPU or the GPU is the bottleneck?

Since you said you cant run the game smoothly at 720p, i am guessing the performance drops a lot (GPU bottleneck) or stays the same (CPU bottleneck)

That said, you could you also confirm if you are using the XMP ram profiles? and check if the performace does change with PBO settings turned on.

The CPU warranty is over anyways (3 years limited warranty if i am not mistaken) ...

All Ryzen chips are capable of overclocking. X is just a slightly better chip compared to the non-X in general.

RX580 shouldn't have too much trouble with battlefield...possible something else is wrong.

Your performance on Battlefield 2042 isn't related to your CPU, which is perfectly fine and is able to run the game. The issue is your GPU. Went on game debate and entered your rig, it immediately pointed out that your GPU was the issue. You may consider a GPU replacement and NOT a CPU replacement.
 
1080p medium should be around 60FPS even under heavy scenarios with peaks well into the 70s.

720p Low, probably pushing 100 FPS or more (you might actually run into a CPU problem there, online multiplayer takes a lot of CPU)

I would take a close look at GPU clocks and temperatures, might just need a repaste. Clean out dust, double check the fans work properly.

Confirm CPU temperatures and a working/clean CPU cooler.

Confirm that your 2x8GB kit is actually running dual channel and at the appropriate memory speed.

Also doesn't hurt to update everything. Motherboard chipset/audio/network drivers, GPU drivers.

If you want to upgrade anyway, cool, but selling a known working CPU/GPU would offset the costs a bit.

Check your settings. Make sure you don’t have RT on or you’re upscaling

hey thank you for the reply. ill launch Bf2042 in a few hours when i get back home. and check the temps and post them here. after that ill clean it up repaste it and post the results again.
EDIT : forgot to add. my RAM is running dual channel. thats the first thing i made sure was working when i was done building my pc haha 😀 but i checked to be sure and its still Dual channel.

Hey, i just wanted to let you know you saved me. the ''just needs a repaste'' seemed to have worked. ( also i wont lie about this ) when i removed the ''fan cap'' the amount of dust on the heatsink was ridiculous i should be ashamed. it was preapplied on the wraith prism cooler so i removed it all. removed all the dust ( cleaned whole pc while i was at it ) reapplied some paste ( kinda nervous doing it for the first time XD ) i was going to check temps before the cleaning but the servers were down. i jjust played 2 matches and i only went to 53 FPS once but might have been a loading thing. after that it was constant 63-70 fps on 1080P also i checked midgame what the temps were and it says CPU temp 76max and 31c min. it used to be 50c on idle when i checked before i cleaned. damn just cleaning my heatsink saved me like alot of money. thank you all so much for the replies and help really appriciate it 😀
 
sorry for spamming this thread. but is there a way to mark it as ''solved'' and ''best answer'' ? im trying to figure it out but i cant seemd to find it.
 
Should be good to keep that around for a while longer. This generation mid-range hardware isn't amazing.

RX7600 just launched and is at least competitively priced, but the older RX6700XT still gets my vote while they are still available.
