Upgrading prebuilt PCs with a new graphics card

Hi everyone!

I've recently thought about upgrading my gtx 960 to a 1070, but I've had some concerns. My main concern is that I got a prebuilt pc and not sure if it's possible to upgrade its components. I've got an acer predator G3- 710, does anyone know if it's possible?

It's current specs are:

gtx 960 2gb
i7 6700 3.40 ghz
16gb RAM
and from what I could find a mATX motherboard and a 500W psu

Their G3-710-UR14 model comes with the i7-7700 (next-generation version of your CPU) & the GTX 1070, as well as a 500W PSU. You're probably safe to replace your GPU.

Ok thanks! So the gpu i linked will fit with in my case and motherboard with no problem? Also do you believe the cpu I got will work fine with the new gpu? It wont bottleneck? thanks!

Some of those pre-built systems have crummy PSUs. You may want to look at getting a quality PSU from Seasonic, EVGA, or Corsair. 500 watts should be enough for a decent PSU.

You have a great CPU, it will be just fine with a 1070ti. As far as size, it will be difficult to find GPU clearance for you case as it is not a consumer case, but an OEM. Just looking at the size of the case, it should be fine. But to double check just open it up and measure the length of your 960. Compare that length with the length of the 1070ti and note any extra room you have past the 960.

Best guess, it will fit fine, but as they say, measure twice and cut once.

Just wandering what happened? I'm looking for similar upgrades. Your answer will be helpful for research.
