Upgrading PSU on Alienware Aurora r3

Hi! So I have an Alienware Aurora r3 that is now six or so years old. I bought a gtx 970 to uprade from the ancient video card that was already inside. To power this I bought a 750 W EVGA supernova modular power supply. In order to install this I needed to remove the old, non-modular psu. I installed the new one, but I cannot get the computer to boot, so I'm wondering if its even possible to upgrade to a modular power supply in the first place. Thanks for any help!

Did you plug the 20+4 ATX and the 4/8 motherboard auxillary power connectors in firmly? Is there an On/Off switch on the PSU? Check to make sure you didn't pull the power switch and other front panel wires lose when you changed the PSU.

Thanks for the response! I'm a first time PC refurbisher. I connected all of the connectors firmly including the 24 pin motherboard, four pin CPU, all my drives, and the six pin vga connector for the video card. I dislodged a few of the cables running to the front of the case when installing the psu, I thought I plugged them in correctly but that may not be the case. The switch on the psu is definitely on! Do you know what the function of the second, smaller looking motherboard is? Thanks!

Dell Specific PSU
Alienware PSUs are specific to Dell Alienware and XPS computers in that they use one plug for everything. They are good quality and can handle the rated wattage, but you cannot swap this with an aftermarket PSU without having to rewire your Alienware case. The good thing is that when or if you have to replace it (if you can find one), then all you have to do is pop it out and plug your wiring harness into the new one.

The following models have this style harness plug:
Alienware Aurora - version 1,2,3 and the ALX
Alienware Area 51 and Area 51 ALX

The power supplies in those are proprietary.
