Upgrading R7 260x to _________ (GTX 960, GTX 970, something from AMD, or wait for a 960 Ti?)

Not sure where to go with this. The general consensus is the GTX 960, though great, is a bit underwhelming; when overclocked, however, it can give you great frames in the most demanding games ($210). The GTX 970 is THE card right now. Regardless of the 3.5/0.5 GB distribution, it still stomps benchmarks (~$350). If not those two, I'm not sure what card on Red side would keep up or make up the middle ground.

The hardware I have (where an upgrade of a GPU would matter):

AMD FX-6300 @ 4.1 GHz
EVGA NEX650G 650W Power Supply

So my question is: what should I get?

1)I'm afraid that if I get an AMD card, it'll be a power eater, especially if I overclock it.
2)If I get a GTX 960 and then a GTX 960 Ti comes out with some better benchmarks, I'll shoot myself in the foot for it. I just don't think it'll give me the future proof performance I need, and I don't think it would make sense to get one now and another later because...
3) The GTX 970 is $50 bucks less than 2 960's in SLI and can keep up with the performance of the latter. However, I just can't dish out $350-$375 right now. Doesn't help that I need 8 more GB of RAM and a new motherboard; possibly trying to stream on Twitch.TV in the future and trying to run the 6300 at a higher clock speed.

Even after looking at benchmarks, watching videos on Youtube, and reading some forums, I'm just not sure what to do.

Any recommendations? What I should buy first?

Thanks!

P.S. Please don't make this a Green team vs. Red team post. I would like responses as unbiased as possible.
