Question Upgrading ram. but unsure

hello i am wondering if i can upgrade to 1600 mhz rom ddr3

my motherboard is a GA-B75M-D3H v1.1 it says i can run 1600 mhz but only with a 22nm (Ivy Bridge)

my cpu is a i7 2600 and says it can handle 1600 mhz but its a (sandy Bridge)

dose this mean if i put 1600 mhz ram will it only show as and run 1333 mhz?

Id also suggest save some money and go for 3rd gen, since your motherboard supports it, and save up for 1600mhz ram, i7 3rd gen are pretty cheap

i got a i7 3770 for $80 cause i found out my PCIE x16 3.0 was being cap to 2.0 x8 cause of that 2ed gen cpu
