Hi all

So currently I have 8GB of RAM and was looking to upgrade to 32GB. So I found two potential options;

1. https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232091&nm_mc=AFC-C8JunctionCA&cm_mmc=AFC-C8JunctionCA-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10592396&PID=3938566&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_source=afc-PCPartPicker%2C+LLC&cjevent=4419c77a27ea11e9817d023f0a1c0e12

and

2.https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232750&nm_mc=AFC-C8JunctionCA&cm_mmc=AFC-C8JunctionCA-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10592396&PID=3938566&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_source=afc-PCPartPicker%2C+LLC&cjevent=9f16238027ea11e9806b02490a1c0e0e

First I was wondering why there is a price difference, is one better than the other? Second, this is my current motherboard https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813145061 are both of these RAM sticks compatible with it? And lastly, is installing RAM just plug and play or do I have to update something?

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

1. They're both the same voltage, DIMM type, and timer. The only difference I can see is that the TridentZ has rbg on it and, depending on your cooler type and size, may not be very visible if you're like me and have a giant heatsink. I would assume that the RipjawsV is more expensive because the brand has a high association with Intel, so people looking for "Intel RAM" are more likely to find this one and pay the difference of something like the TridentZ, for example.

2. Yes, both options are compatible (that's a nice board btw)

3. When installing RAM, you should make sure it's inserted properly (90% of people mess this up at some point). There should be a clear 'click' or two when it's put in. As for a firmware or software perspective, you might get some terminal text on your first startup with it asking something like "Did your hardware change?" and you would just select yes. After that you're good to go.

Personally, I prefer Corsair ram (especially their Dominator series) because they provide a longer warranty time than most brands, but that's just me.

I have a corsair water cooler, so visibility is pretty good, but not to worried about visibility anyways. I have Intel processor, out of the two, which would you recommend? Also, installation sounds pretty easy which is nice. :)

I was just looking at this one from corsair https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820236315&Description=corsair%2032gb&cm_re=corsair_32gb-_-20-236-315-_-Product would this one work as well?
