I Currently have:
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CML8GX3M2A1600C9)
RAM in my computer and am looking to upgrade. I am trying to figure out if the hassle of mixing memory sizes is worth going with a pair of 8GB ram sticks.

In others words should I get. Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 8GB 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600 MHZ
or Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 8GB 2 x 8GB DDR3 1600 MHZ as my second set?

All have the same timing (9-9-9-24).

I like the idea of the 2x8 because it would allow me to easily upgrade to 32GB of ram IF needed in the future.

Some background on the build.
ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO DDR3 2800 LGA 1150
Intel Core i5-4670K
ASUS GTX770 2G (graphics card)(Plan to add a second one eventually)
2 SSDs and 2 HDs
1000Watt Corsair Power supply

Programs Used:
Full range of games peaking out at battlefield atm (starcitizen upon release - massively memory hungry game).
Solid works
Abacus
and other engineering programs

Solution
Go with 2x8GB, then you can try mixing it with your DRAM, but keep in mind there are no guarantees when trying to mix sets of DRAM - also down the road if you decide on 32GB there's no guarantee another 2x8GB set will play with your current set - even if you get the same exact model
