Hello,
With RAM prices dropping, I'm thinking upgrading my Jan. 2013 self build graphics workstation from 32 to 64GB by adding 4 more 8GB modules. This would max out my LGA 2011 (i7-3930K 6-core 3.2 GHZ overclocked to 4GHZ).
My current RAM is G.Skill Ripjaw X -- 32GB (4 x 8GB), 240-Pin DDR3, 1600mhz (PC3 12800), 1.5v, Latency 10, Timing 10-10-10-30. Model # F3-12800CL10Q-32GBXL
Currently, I only come close to maxing out my memory capacity except when rendering complex 3d models in 3ds Max and Maya, Rendering 4k Video in Premiere and After Effects and sometimes when working super large Photoshop files (in excess of 2GB).
The exact model of RAM in my system is no longer available. Thus, I am consider mixing in RAM of slightly different specs.
How important are each of these specs when trying to buy compatible DDR3 modules?
  • Brand? G.Skill
  • Speed? 1600mhz (PC3 12800)
  • CAS Latency? 10
  • Timing? 10-10-10-30
  • Voltage? 1.5v
  • Multi Channel? Quad
Also, since I am not really much in the way of performance issues now, when would be the best time to upgrade? I don't want to wait until they no longer make RAM for my system or until RAM for my system will be really expensive.
Currently, I can get these modules for $110 on sale:
My current RAM is:

When you mix ram types from different manufacturers you are then responsible for all the testing. Ram are sold in kits that are guaranteed to work together.
