Please help me! :??:

My computer currently uses '4x1GB ECC DDR2 PC2-3200 400Mhz' RAM. If I were to upgrade to this: '2x4GB ECC DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz', would it all run smoothly? The main differences are going from PC2-3200 to PC2-6400 and 400Mhz to 800Mhz.

And assuming it does, could I then consequently buy the same two sticks of four to have 16GB of RAM total?

Thanks for reading and hope you can help! :)

Hi, upgrading the memory won't increase the performance of your computer unless you are running out of memory when using multiple applications (can be seen in the task manager). I suggest investing a SSD and migrate your operating system in it. You will have better overall experience rather than upgrading the memory. Its still optional to buy a memory though. Its your money to spend http://www.amazon.com/4x4gb-Memory-compaq-Proliant-Sinlge/dp/B00E5OUQPQ

I already have SSD and I don't need telling what's better for increasing performance. All I want to know is can I move from PC2-3200 to PC2-6400 and 400Mhz to 800Mhz.
