The PC I am currently was originally many years ago a pre-built PC and the RAM I am using is still the stock RAM.
I currently have installed 8gb (2x4gb) of 1333MHz RAM (Unbranded I believe) and I am often playing games such as Fallout 4, League of Legends and many others.

Will I notice a significant boost if I purchase 16gb Corsair Vengeance clocked at 2400MHz?

When playing Fallout 4, on Windows10 and have Skype/Spotify open I usually am on about 95% usage of my RAM.

The current RAM is actually about 6-7 years old now, so it may have degraded in speed over the years due to my area being prone to powercuts every 5-6 days

The reason I am querying this now, is Amazon have just dropped 16gb 2400MHz of RAM to £64 currently:

Solution
The amount of DRAM can provide an increase - performance wise, though you won't see much staying at the same amount and going from 1333 - 1600
Probably not. The reason they gave you on your prebuild PC RAM working at 1333Mhz is because your motherboard probably can't handle more than that. You can still put higher Mhz RAM in your motherboard but they will automatically be made by the motherboard to work at only 1333Mhz.

Well the mobo has been changed since, my new one handles anything up to 2400MHz, provided I play around with the BIOS to configure it

I cant remember the exact model name, but its a i5 quad-core 3.0GHz, non-overclocked

Then you should be fine upgrading just keep in mind, in many applications or games you will not see a difference from lets say 1866 to 2400.

If it's a non-K you might be able to run 1600 at best - the MC (memory controller) of the CPU is the primary determining factor of what data rates you can run -NOT the mobo. Sounds like an 1155 CPU, so native DRAM is 1333, if non-K, again 1600 is possible

My model of CPU is "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00GHz"

After looking that up, it states it only support 1333MHz and 1600MHz, so not sure if its still worth going for the RAM or not, as 1333>2400 & 8gb>16gb is a large boost, but 1333>1600 isnt so much I guess
