Question Upgrading RAM: What speed can I use?

I’ve decided to upgrade my old ASUS EeePC 1215B. Next step is RAM, where I now use 2x2GB SO-DIMM 1333MHz.

I want to buy 2x4GB, but I’m not sure if I can use 1600MHz or if I need to use 1333MHz.

I’ve tried searching but haven’t read an answer about exactly what spec on my motherboard (ASUSTek 1215B) decides what the maximum RAM speed is.

How do I know which RAM to buy?

Hi, normally faster ram would downclock to match the slowest stick but you could also overclock to get the slower to match the faster, there are risks so stick to finding your exact ram specs and buy accordingly if unsure, or borrow and test if possible to see highest supported, try HW info for detailed info on current specs
