Question Upgrading RAM- what will work best?

I have an Asrock X99x killer fatablity, Intel I-7 5820k with water cooling, and one stick DDR4-2400 (1200 mhz) 8 gb, crucial brand.

I want to upgrade to 4 sticks of 8 gb each, with heat sink and as fast as my PC can handle without risk of bugs. I will likely also be adding a WD black hard disk and MVme SSD drive, as well as a new GPU.

I previously got Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0134EW7G8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share a but when I pluged them in it wouldn’t start to BIOS. I returned it.

Suggestions of what to get? I want to improve my gaming and Oculus rift, and video editing/art.

Go to the corsair memory finder app and enter your motherboard.

The speeds shown seem relatively slow- is this really the fastest my PC can handle in DDR4 RAM? I don't want to overdo it, but I do want to have top performance. Is the RAM I got not compatible with this motherboard?

Your motherboard will support ram as fast as 3000 speed.

You need to implement XMP overclocking to run over 2400 speed.
But, with higher speed comes higher latency, reducing much of the speed benefit.

Overall, you are looking at perhaps 1% difference in performance between 2133 and 3000 speed ram.
True, some apps and certainly integrated graphics can benefit.
But the intel ram controller seems to be very good about fetching needed data before it needs it.

One general metric is to divide the speed by the cas timing.
It turns out that you get a figure of merit of 200 or so.
If speed is the same, look for lower latency, and expect to pay a premium for it.
