Question Upgrading rig for streaming

Sep 11, 2019
I was thinking about upgrading my rig to perform better when playing games and streaming.

I'd like to see what you all think would be the best hardware to upgrade for this. Let's set the benchmark at max settings on R6S, 1080p @ 60fps.

Here's a list of my current specs:

Processor - Intel Core i7 7700 "Kaby Lake" 3.6GHz Quad Core with HT
CPU Cooler - Arctic Freezer 11 LP
Memory - 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2400MHz DDR4
Graphics Card - 8GB Asus GeForce GTX 1070 OC GAMING
Power Supply - Corsair 500W CX - 80PLUS
System Drive - 250GB Samusng 850 EVO SSD
Storage Drive - 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD, 500GB Samsung SSD (I don't remember the model but this is where my games are stored)

If you guys are able to, could you also tell me what the rough specs would be if I wanted to stream Escape From Tarkov, max settings, 1080p @ 60fps?

You really are looking at a 6c/12t CPU as a min. Ryzen 2600/x, Intel 8700/k+.

16gb of fast ram (specially with ryzen) about 3200mhz.

The GTX1070 is just enough to cover both gaming and streaming at 1080p 60.

With what you have, all you really need is a mobo and CPU.

If it were me though, I'd be thinking of a better PSU though to go with the new system. The CX ain't the worst, but getting a good quality EVGA G2/G3, Seasonic Focus Plus Gold would be a good call.

Streaming, at minimum, I would go with something like this. I also included a better quality PSU, as yours is not very good. Those older CX models were not really meant for gaming rigs.
