Hi,
just bought a new GPU, a GTX 1050 ti, and one of the nice gentlemen on this site informed me that my motherboard, CPU and RAM need to be upgraded. My current specs are:

12GB of RAM
Motherboard: IPISB-CH2
Processor: i7-2600 3.4 GHz
PSU: HP 460W

I would also guess that my PSU also needs to be upgraded.
My budget would be from 400 - 600. Would like some advice on what to buy and how to go about it.

Solution
AMD Ryzen 1600 is a popular new model CPU for around $200.
Intel Core i5-7600k is about $250. The "k" models also need a CPU Cooler.
You may find better prices around Black Friday later this year.

I would definitely recommend replacing the HP case with one that has better cooling. You may want to keep the HP as a spare system. Size is another thing. Do you want a smaller Micro-ATX or larger ATX Form Factor motherboard. You currently have a Micro-ATX size. A Mid-Tower case can hold both sizes.

Memory is another decision you need to make. Prices are not low. A 2 x 8GB kit is going for around $150.

Hey,
yeah having the HP as a spare system seems like the way I might go about this.

The AMD Ryzen 1600 looks like it would suit me so that covers my CPU

I don't really know anything about motherboards so if you could recommend any that would go with this CPU I would really appreciate it.

I would also assume I need a new PSU? 460W doesn't seem very much

Thanks very much for your help!
