Upgrading to 10 from 7, Format Additional Hard Drives?

When I previously upgraded to windows 10 around janurary, I was unable to use my additional hard drives until i had reformated them. Unfortunetly if I was to do so I would loose a few years of my photography work so I don't wish to do so.

I was wondering if anyone has had this or if there is a way around it? As I wouldn't want to loose all of my images from the past few years.

There is absolutely no need to format them!
Are they in raid ?

Shouldn't need to, safest way, get a new HDD, format that, transfer and then format.

I know theres no need to format them, Windows was making me do it in order to use those additional hard drives.
No They're not in Raid.
