Upgrading to 1070

Hello, I currently own a gtx970 4gb, i7-4790k, 8gb Kingston hyperx savage, And Msi gaming 5 MOBO; all bought in 2015. Would upgrading to a gtx 1070 8gb be worth it or should I save up and invest in a 1080? The 1080 only has about 20% performance over the 1070 to my understanding. Also, I have no intention of playing in 4K right now. I play in mostly 1080p or the nvidia super resolutions depending on the game.
