Guys I need your help with my dilemma right now. I currently have a gtx 970 xtreme gaming from gigabyte and im planning of upgrading my monitor to a 144hz. I have 2 monitors that I'm eyeing at the moment. I'll post link below.

ACER 27 XB271HU PREDATOR XB1
https://dynaquestpc.com/collections/27-43-inch/products/acer-27-xb271hu-predator-xb1-gaming

and

ASUS PG258Q ROG SWIFT 24.5
https://dynaquestpc.com/collections/23-25-inch/products/asus-24-5-inch-rog-swift-pg258q-1ms-240hz-gsync-1080p

The games that im playing are BF CoD and CSGO mostly. I'd like to ask on which monitor can I maximize or would be best for the future if I plan on upgrading my GPU in abt a year.

Thanks in advance!

I do understand that, that's why I asked which would be best as I'm also eyeing on upgrading my GPU later on. :) if you could also put in the pros and cons? Thanks.

Pros are that you will be ready for the new GPU and it's a great Monitor. I have an Acer Predator XB1 XB271HU abmiprz 27" 16:9 LCD.

Minus is the current GPU is light for 1440P so you will have to lower your settings until you get the frame rate you need.

I think I can endure playing while on 1080 on the acer until I can have my GPU upgraded. But, do you think if i set it on 1080 will that play fine on my current games? I'm not planning on setting it on the 1440 yet as I understand what your point is. :)

Should work fine playing on 1080P, just set the games when you pay them.

1070 might even do ok at 1440. But the others would be better.

Keep an eye out as well, keep seeing rumors about an RX 3080 from AMD coming out this year that's supposed to compete with the rtx 2070, but only cost 250-300 dollars. Maybe they will announce at ces. However, I don't think those are supposed to have ray tracing, but that would still be good value.

I like it ok. Keep in mind that it is a 1080p screen though, so no 1440p. But it's 144hz. They say it's 5ms response time. Either way it seems clear and 1080p can be an upside if you are running a card like a gtx 1060 or RX 580. Issue you may have later is if you begin to wish you had the 1440p monitor. But I like it pretty well.

Yeah, 1440p cost more, which is why I didn't go that route. At least my monitor has freesync. I just picked up my RX 590 today(which is replacing the gtx 1070 with loud fan). So I guess I may get to see what freesync is about.

I will say however, that if you've not had more than a 24 inch monitor, then especially when you go to 27 inch and curved, it's an adjustment as it does make things much more close and make you feel more a part of the action.

I gone down the road with the ACER 27 XB271HU PREDATOR XB1. I've ordered it, and may take 2 weeks from my go to trusted supplier which never failed me for the last 4 years. After that I'm eyeing of upgrading my GPU. Prolly to a 1180ti if they will be launching it. or 2080. Any recommendation? or feedback?

The RTX 2080 would be perfect, or a GTX 1080Ti.
