Upgrading to a new cpu

so right now i have a really old i7-2700k cpu and im looking at the i7-7700k 4.2 ghz but i dont even know if it can fit in my pc, i have a B75MA-P45 motherboard, is it really worth upgrading?

There won't be an issue with your motherboard supporting your new CPU as the motherboard supports all Intel I7's. Performance wise there could be a small performance boost with the new CPU. Realistically unless your running intense CPU programs then the performance won't really be noticeable

No. 7700k is 7th gen CPU, and requires motherboard with 1151 socket, while your motherboard has 1155 socket. If you would try to put 7700k in your motherboard, you would instantly fry it.
Is it worth? No. There are 8th gen CPUs available already, and for similar money they offer more cores and better performance.

No. 7700k is 7th gen CPU, and requires motherboard with 1151 socket, while your motherboard has 1155 socket. If you would try to put 7700k in your motherboard, you would instantly fry it.
Is it worth? No. There are 8th gen CPUs available already, and for similar money they offer more cores and better performance.

so what would you suggest? buying another cpu or upgrading motherboard and buying the 7700k?

Essentially if you want to upgrade your machine, you have to be prepared for new CPU+mobo+RAM. The question is, what you use your machine for? If gaming, your CPU is still good enough for GPU you got. If other uses, you may benefit from new 6-core Intel CPUs. Depending on budget, you may want to get i5-8400, i5-8600K or i7-8700 (K or non-K), coupled with Z370 motherboard (there are currently no other chipsets compatible with 8th gen) and 8-16 GB of DDR4 RAM. We have first review already, showing those new CPU are excellent choice for gaming but also very solid for other uses.

what about: MSI B250m Bazooka S-1151 m-ATX

if i buy that motherboard and a i7-7700k will that work or is there any better option for the same price? i dont know anyhing about computers so i have almost no clue what im doing right now

That would be compatible set, but again not really worth it. Such setup costs around 400$ (assuming you already have good cooler, if not you need to add cost of cooler). On the other hand, setup like this

offers similar performance (if not better) for 310$ (and you don't need extra cooler). Of course in both cases you need to add the cost of new DDR4 RAM.
Note however that in both cases your GPU would be a weak point - both setups are just too fast for your GPU.

Well since the 8400 pretty much beats the i7 usually in almost all cases why not get that?

If I got this correct, this set would cost 6200 SEK, which is about 760$. Not sure how prices in Sweden look like, but similar set in US would cost around 530$, lets add 23% VAT that's around 650$. Not worth at all it seems.

GTX 1070, on the other hand, could indeed increase performance of your old system.
