I am planning to upgrade to a8 7650k from a6 6400k
Is this processor okay for modern games like fornite, csgo, black dessert at medium to high settings? Im going to pair it with my r7 240 1gb gddr5. Is it okay to upgrade?
Crossfire would be an option with the graphics card you have and the A8 7650k. From reading other people experience, it may be more frustrating than it's worth.
If you have a dedicated graphics card, then you would be better off with an 860K CPU rather than the APU. List your motherboard and we can verify it is compatible with your upgrade choices.

You'll only see a real improvement in games that can utilize four or more cores. It's hard to recommend putting money into an ancient, budget platform at this point. Your GPU is right at the minimum for Black Desert (a bit ahead of minimum in Fortnite and CS:GO) and will be at or below the minimum for most new AAA games.
