Upgrading to Radeon 7970

Thinking of upgrading from my Radeon 5870 to a 7970.

Is there anything I really need to know before doing so?

One thing I did notice is that a 7970 requires an 8pin and 6pin connectors from the PSU. My 5870 has two 8pins going to it. Do I need to check to make sure that I have a spare 6pin before purchasing this card or will two 8s work?

Also, to make Eyefinity work, what do I need? My monitors have DVI, HDMI, VGA. Will an active mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter be all I need?

I am sure the plugs you have are 6+2 so no problem.
Should be more or less plug and play

I currently own a 7970 and I run it of x2 6+2 which is basically x2 8 pin power connector and I use 1st monitor on 1st dvi ,2nd on the 2nd dvi port and then lastly a converter displayport to dvi for my 3rd monitor
