Upgrading to ryzen 1600

Am planning to change to the ryzen 1600.

My current rig uses i5 2400
R9 280x and 16 gb of ram.

Will there be any problems?

Will be playing games on single monitor at 1080p.

With a 1600, you'll be getting a new motherboard & DDR4 memory too?

If so, there shouldn't be any issues. The 280X is still a solid 1080p performer.

Are you keeping your HDDs /SSDs?

What PSU is powering it all?

650 psu. If I were to game at 1080p the gpu is more than enough? Am actually waiting for high end tiers gpu to drop their value before I buy another one.

I would say the GPU is more than capable for 1080p, yes.

As far as performance goes, it' sits somewhere between a 1050TI and a 1060..... while consuming more power, obviously.
Considering a 1050TI is a 60FPS Medium-High @ 1080p, and a 1060 is easily a 60FPS High-Ultra, 1080p..... the 280X should still have some solid life left in it.

I would suggest it's probably more in the 60FPS @ Medium-High 1080p...... with some titles needing to be turned down closer to Medium.

Lets say i get the ryzen 1600. then i decide to change my GPU in the furture, is it possible? will it limit my choice of GPU? changing to a 1080TI in the furture.

EDIT: i would also like to ask, if an i5 2400 to ryzen 1600 is a worthy upgrade?

The R5 1600 won't limit the GPU you can upgrade to, no.

If you opt for a B350 board (or A320.... but don't go A320) over an X370, you rule out SLI options in future as it's not supported by the chipset, but otherwise (assuming the PSU is ok), you'll have no problems.

EDIT: i5-2400 to Ryzen, yes. You should see some decent gains there.
The added cores/threads are little wasted with strictly gaming.... currently at least. But the Ryzen5 1600 should last you a few years.
