Hello,

I want to upgrade my current cpu i5 6600k to a ryzen 9 3900x.

The only parts I'd like to keep for now is my ram which is "Kingston HyperX FURY DDR4 - Geheugen - 16 GB : 2 x 8 GB - DIMM 288-pins - DDR4 - 2666 MHz / PC4-21300"

I'm thinking about buying this motherboard:

My question is: Is this the optimal motherboard/cpu combo and do I have to upgrade my ram instantly or can I wait with that, or is it even worth upgrading the ram?

Thanks!

Will it all work, yes. IMO that’s a pretty low level, weak VRM, board for a 3900x. I wouldn’t expect it to hit very good clocks at all with that board.

Best memory for ryzen is 3600mhz so running 1000mhz lower will definitely have an impact. Will it work, yes but you will definitely want to upgrade to DDR 3600.
