Hello guys, I am currently rolling with the following gear:

CPU: Intel i7 4790k
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Nepton 240M Water Cooling
MOB: Maximus VII Hero 1150
GPU: Asus Strix GTX 980
RAM: HyperX Savage 2400Mhz 2 x 8GB
PSU: Evga SuperNova 850 G2
SSD: Samsung 850 PRO 256GB

I would like to upgrade to the following:
- 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 6700K 4.0GHz Socket LGA1151
- ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Ranger Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) Motherboard
- HyperX Fury Black Series 2133 MHz DDR4 CL14 DIMM Memory Kit

What's your opinion on this? Is it worth it if I sell my current CPU + MOB + RAM for about £360 and get the above for £600+? Will my liquid cooler be compatible? I am a hardcore gamer.

Thanks for advices!

In all honesty after seeing what new things Skylake is offering, I'd say not to upgrade. Unless you feel a real reason to upgrade, I wouldn't. In gaming, there is not a huge advantage from DDR3 to DDR4. And unless you have something that uses USB 3.1, which is still pretty rare, then maybe consider it. Wait until you feel like you will actually benefit from some of the new features of Skylake and Z170 before upgrading. Your money and decision though.

Yes, I know that i7 4790k is still a powerful piece of gear, however I've seen a benchmarks today where the FPS difference between devils canyon and the new Skylike can be even 10+ fps or even 15 FPS in Battlefield 4.

For example, according to a well-known Polish benchmark site (http://pclab.pl/art65154-15.html) :
GTA V (1080p, ULTRA):
i7 4790k = 54 FPS
i7 6700k = 59.6 FPS

Witcher 3 (1080p, ULTRA)
i7 4790k = 100.6 FPS
i7 6700k = 113.7 FPS

Battlefield 4 MP (1080p, ULTRA)
i7 4790k = 107.2 FPS
i7 6700k = 123.2 FPS
