Hi, I am in the process of upgrading my laptop's original harddrive with a Samsung SSD. I have also purchased an external hard drive case adapter. What is the easiest way to migrate my laptop as is (windows/applications etc) to the new harddrive? I dont have any of my original Windows CDs or harddrive drivers so a bit worried about messing it up completely. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the used space on the current drive smaller then the size of the new SSD?
If so then just put the SSD in the external case and install & run Samsung Magician to clone your current drive to the new SSD.
When the clone is complete you can power down and swap the two drives.

If not then you will need to free up space first.

How much space is consumed on your current drive?
What size is the new SSD?
What type/make/model is the new SSD?
What OS is this?

There are ways, depending ont he answers to the above.
