Upgrading to SSD in older laptop & windows upgrade?

I have an HP laptop that came with a restoral partition for easy reinstall of Windows 7. When Windows 10 came out I got the free key to upgrade to Windows 10 from 7.
I'm thinking of buying an SSD to improve the speed of this laptop that is now a few years old.
Since I originally had Windows 7 on the laptop & then "free" upgraded to Windows 10, how do I get Windows 10 onto the new SSD when it's installed in the laptop?

You do not need the original Win 7 Restore partition.

Can your laptop take the 2 drives at once?
What size is the new SSD?
How much consumed space is on your current HDD?

Hey man,
I don't have the drive yet. I'm thinking of just getting a small one since this laptop sits in our kitchen and is mainly used for Youtube/Netflix and my little fellas online homework from time to time. Nothing is ever really downloaded to it.
I'm not concerned with cloning or losing anything on the original drive.
The laptop can only take 1 drive. I was going to remove the old HDD and put in the SSD.
What I can't wrap my head around is how do I get my legit copy of Windows 10 on the new drive since I started with a legit Windows 7 but did the digital/free upgrade to 10.

As always, thanks for the replies.
