I've got an i7-4790k and 4gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram at the moment, should I upgrade to 8gb of ram with a samsung 840 evo 250gb ssd or get a new headset with the ssd instead of ram? I'm not sure if the ram is worth it? I lag sometimes when I want to open a program or when I multitask but I'm not sure if that's because of my ram or my 5 year old 250gb hard drive. Also, I play arma 3 and sometimes I get lag spikes when I enter new areas of the map and then it returns to 40-50 Fps on max settings..

Solution
upgrading RAM to 2x4GB is a must. Adding a SSD is nice, and all new good systems should have one. Once you go SSD you'll never go back. Everything snaps open the instant you click it and you will see/fell the difference immediately. A headset can wait.

I recommend upgrading the ram and the SSD, the headset wont give you extra performance in games, but the RAM can benefit in many games today.

If you're playing games with your friends in skype or something like that you should buy headset but if you playing games that are single player or you just playing without your friends, so you should buy the ram and buy headset next time, and if you have lags sometimes in the game you should check what is your graphics card.
