Upgrading to the 1080

I was debating to buy a new graphics card (gtx 1080) because I was struggling to run games, but my cpu is extremely old. I was wondering if I will get as good graphics as people say I will eventhough my cpu is awful. Would I get better graphics if I upgraded to a i5 6500 and a radeon 480?

For the money a 6500 and the 480 is a great combo.

even if you had an old i5, if it is a "k" series it could handle a 1080 very well

anything by amd, then yeah 1080 is too much

an i5 6500 + rx 480 would make a very decent gaming setup
